Reliable, able to expand, and handle large amounts of data well
We use batch processing. It works well with our formats and file versions. There's a lot of functionality. In our pipeline each hour, we make a copy of data from MongoDB, of the changes from MongoDB to some specific file. Each time pipeline copied all of the data, it would do it each time without changes to all of the tables. Tables have a lot of data, and in the last MongoDB version, there is a possibility to read only changed data. This reduced the cost and configuration of the cluster, and we saved about $150,000. The solution is scalable. It's a stable product.

"ETL and streaming capabilities."
"I appreciate everything about the solution, not just one or two specific features. The solution is highly stable. I rate it a perfect ten. The solution is highly scalable. I rate it a perfect ten. The initial setup was straightforward. I recommend using the solution. Overall, I rate the solution a perfect ten."
"One of Apache Spark's most valuable features is that it supports in-memory processing, the execution of jobs compared to traditional tools is very fast."
"The most crucial feature for us is the streaming capability. It serves as a fundamental aspect that allows us to exert control over our operations."
"Apache Spark provides a very high-quality implementation of distributed data processing."
"The product’s most valuable features are lazy evaluation and workload distribution."
"This solution is very fast."
"The main feature is that the processes are very flexible, they are able to be adapted to the business and their departments."
"This is a feature-rich product and I like all of them."
"SAP HANA is one of the best databases known for its performance...The new version of the solution is stable."
"Integration is the most valuable feature we use SAP HANA for."
"We use SAP HANA for Master Data Governance."
"One feature I find very valuable, is the response time of the application on the database memory."
"Using this solution has given us better details for reporting and analytics."

Cons

"At times during the deployment process, the tool goes down, making it look less robust. To take care of the issues in the deployment process, users need to do manual interventions occasionally."
"It's not easy to install."
"More ML based algorithms should be added to it, to make it algorithmic-rich for developers."
"I would like to see integration with data science platforms to optimize the processing capability for these tasks."
"Dynamic DataFrame options are not yet available."
"The product could improve the user interface and make it easier for new users."
"This solution currently cannot support or distribute neural network related models, or deep learning related algorithms. We would like this functionality to be developed."
"The graphical user interface (UI) could be a bit more clear. It's very hard to figure out the execution logs and understand how long it takes to send everything. If an execution is lost, it's not so easy to understand why or where it went. I have to manually drill down on the data processes which takes a lot of time. Maybe there could be like a metrics monitor, or maybe the whole log analysis could be improved to make it easier to understand and navigate."
"Ease of use could be improved in SAP HANA. I like SAP because SAP solutions can be used by anyone, which means even laymen can start working on SAP tools, but in SAP HANA modeling, you'll need to know some other technologies and sequel scripting, and you need a separate skillset, so if you don't have the skillset, you won't be able to work on SAP HANA. Making SAP HANA low-code would make it even better."
"SAP HANA's long run time to extract data could be improved upon."
"They should develop and improve the solution's data management system."
"The SAP HANA interface has room for improvement because it takes more work to manage than the Microsoft SQL Server interface."
"The releases need to be more stable. It's surprising to still encounter significant bugs after ten years of the product being available."
"Unlike other databases, it lacks management features that legacy databases like Oracle or SQL servers have. They need to make the solution easier to manage and offer tools that make management more effective. A lot of things you have on traditional databases you have to develop into HANA."
"The bid process needs to be improved."
"The user experience should be better. Its user interface is not good. I also don't like the transition concept."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is an open-source product. If you're using the open-source Apache Spark, no fees are involved at any time. Charges only come into play when using it with other services like Databricks."
"Apache Spark is not too cheap. You have to pay for hardware and Cloudera licenses. Of course, there is a solution with open source without Cloudera."
"I did not pay anything when using the tool on cloud services, but I had to pay on the compute side. The tool is not expensive compared with the benefits it offers. I rate the price as an eight out of ten."
"Apache Spark is an open-source solution, and there is no cost involved in deploying the solution on-premises."
"Considering the product version used in my company, I feel that the tool is not costly since the product is available for free."
"It is an open-source platform. We do not pay for its subscription."
"Since we are using the Apache Spark version, not the data bricks version, it is an Apache license version, the support and resolution of the bug are actually late or delayed. The Apache license is free."
"The product is expensive, considering the setup."
"SAP HANA is expensive, but unfortunately, we do not have any alternatives."
"SAP HANA is an expensive product."
"The pricing is relatively high for both customers and partners."
"While the cost of the license may seem high, it is important to note that the benefits of the solution far outweighs the cost."
"The tool is expensive compared to other products, like Oracle R or Microsoft, but it offers a range of all the company's functions."
"The price of licensing is dependent on the size of the project, however, we have found that there is scope to negotiate the cost. If the solution is implemented on-premises there may be some extra costs for hosting etc."
"The licensing cost for SAP HANA is approximately $200 per user per month."
"SAP HANA is very expensive for small to medium businesses."
