Great URL scanning and attachment scanning, but I would like more proactive threat analysis
The two main features that prove most beneficial for us are URL scanning and attachment scanning. URL scanning involves an automatic scan of links and emails. When a user clicks on a link within an email, the system promptly checks the link's safety. If the link is deemed safe, access is granted automatically. However, if it is flagged as unsafe, we receive feedback and notification to caution us about the potentially harmful link. At this point, we are presented with the option to proceed or return. I have personally witnessed the system identify a few unsafe links, making this the primary advantage of using the solution. The second crucial aspect is the scanning of attachments. When an email containing an attachment arrives, we receive a notification of the new email, along with information that the attachment is being scanned for threats. This additional layer of security provides peace of mind for our organization. While Microsoft Defender for Office 365 offers numerous features, these two stand out as particularly impressive and valuable to us.

Offers complete detection and simple management and is a user-friendly solution
It's very effective as a solution to prevent mobile app threats. It has a mobile MDX, mobile detection, and response session. As a comprehensive solution, Check Point offers a very granular and best-in-class experience. Compared to competitors like Fortinet, Trend Micro, Palo Alto, and Cisco, Check Point provides a superior solution according to both the MITRE and Gartner frameworks. For example, in a recent attack simulation, Check Point only allowed ten malicious emails through, while Fortinet allowed 1500 and Cisco allowed 1800. Check Point's email attack ratio is nearly 0.10%, while others range from 1% to 3%. This demonstrates Check Point's superior email filtering capabilities. Check Point's email cleaning ratio is 99.9%, significantly higher than the 98%, 95%, or 93% of its competitors. Moreover, Check Point Harmony Email incorporates AI technology within its security features. Harmony Email & Collaboration (HEC) provides full protection and addresses zero-day files. It's the best solution available, as others don't offer protection against zero-day attacks and rely on signature-based solutions. HEC is truly the best option.

A simple and easy-to-handle solution that does not need multiple configurations, but its pricing could be improved
Trustifi Inbound Shield is a simple and easy-to-handle solution where we don't have to go for multiple configurations. A single IT admin supporting over 100 or 200 users can easily understand everyday reports. Trustifi Inbound Shield is a user-friendly solution that even simple lay people can understand. The product helps our customers avoid 95% of unwanted phishing emails.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The technical support is good and quick to resolve issues."
"The initial setup was easy."
"The solution is very easy to use. All you have to do is to assign the license to the end-user and it's done. The customer will only have the feature activated, and the solution will monitor the emails to determine if they are a threat or not."
"Defender for Office 365 has helped eliminate having to look at multiple dashboards and that is the aspect I like most about it. It is simpler, effective, and convenient. The users like the process efficiency."
"The risk level notifications are most valuable. We get to know what kind of intrusion or attack is there, and we can fix a problem on time."
"Defender helps us prioritize threats across our organization."
"The most valuable feature is the integration. It's a single console, so we don't have to switch around between multiple products. Another valuable feature is the ease of operations and maintenance."
"The most valuable feature is protection against malicious links, fishing, and impersonation. You can train people to be aware of these threats, but they're not always careful. When they're using their phones between meetings, they click on a link, and it's game over."
"I can count the number of endpoints, emails, and collaborations being used in the environment."
"Check Point Harmony Email and Collaboration offers online support and has tight integration with Microsoft."
"The dashboard provides information to investigate more about malicious activity and blocked emails."
"It is the collaboration between users inside the company. It is a big advantage with Check Point to be able to work together on the same document."
"The ease of management and intuitive administration are excellent."
"We need the phishing detection and email quarantine. Once an email is considered malicious, it stays in the quarantine where we can interrogate it. We can check out why it was quarantined and see if it should be delivered to the individual."
"The setup is very easy. I haven't faced any complexity with the setup of the solution."
"Overall, I would rate it ten out of ten."
"Trustifi Inbound Shield is a simple and easy-to-handle solution where we don't have to go for multiple configurations."

Cons

"Microsoft sometimes has downtime, and we'll get several incidents coming in back to back. We have a huge backlog of notifications, many of which may be false positives. However, there might be serious alerts, so we can't risk dismissing all of them at once."
"Too many false positives and lacks an accurate capability to detect malicious SharePoint sites."
"In some situations, it has not been able to pick impersonated emails having no attachments. Technical support definitely has a scope for improvement."
"The pre-sales cost calculations could be more transparent."
"The GUI is sometimes slow to fetch the device report and could be improved."
"We need to be able to whitelist data at the backend."
"About eight months ago, we started to measure the quantity of phishing and spam that we have been receiving, and it has been increasing a lot. That means that protection for our email is not as good as we were expecting."
"In the areas of improvement for Microsoft Defender for Office 365, the console is the biggest challenge for me."
"We have used technical support, but their response time is very slow. It needs to be improved."
"The next release should focus more on email categorization and provide options for unlocking blocked safe emails."
"We still get some false positives. There are times when legitimate stuff gets flagged and it could be that somebody is expecting a very important email but they don't end up getting it. On the flip side, when we alert Check Point about stuff like this, it is corrected, so they are improving. That's a plus."
"It's not fully integrated with Google Workspace, and the statistics don't update in real-time."
"The cost is a little bit expensive."
"They could improve Check Point support response times. Sometimes it takes days to resolve or even days to get a first response."
"The left-hand feature can be made more granular for the implementation of the policy."
"Integration is currently limited to Microsoft Office 365 and Google G Suite."
"The solution's pricing is very high compared to other products like Barracuda and should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is expensive."
"I know that the product is incredibly expensive."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is an add-on to the Office license. Many customers are purchasing this solution."
"Compared to other brands, Microsoft Defender for Office 365's pricing is competitive."
"For large enterprise organizations, they can definitely afford it, but for small and medium organizations, they might struggle to cover the expenses."
"It's a user-base subscription."
"It is much more expensive than using another solution because we have had to include some options and upgrade our license."
"Defender is a little bit more expensive as compared to others. We are in the manufacturing environment. So, we don't have a high budget for all of our endpoint devices. Its cost is a major concern for us."
"I rate the platform’s pricing a seven and a half."
"Due to its pricing, I would say that Check Point Harmony Email & Collaboration is more suitable for medium to enterprise organizations."
"The pricing and licensing are always negotiable."
"One of the nice features is that the licensing model is elastic, so if you go over your license count, you can add users during your billing cycle and true-up later."
"The cost is similar to other competitors. It's not much higher."
"Check Point is more expensive. That's the honest truth. So far, it's a good value for the money."
"Cost is the main concern that every customer takes into consideration, and Check Point always negotiates a price that is affordable."
"The difference between [Check Point and its competitors] boiled down to money. Price-wise, Check Point was very good, it was very competitive."
